About T. Allman Butchers

Traditional British Butchery Since 1949

Our Story

T. Allman Butchers has been a cornerstone of the Edenbridge community since 1949, when Thomas Allman first opened the shop on High Street. For over 75 years, we've been dedicated to providing the finest quality meat to families across Kent.

What started as a small family butcher shop has grown into an award-winning business, but our values remain unchanged: quality, tradition, and service. We believe in doing things the right way, using time-honoured butchery techniques passed down through generations.

Today, we continue to serve the community with the same dedication and passion that Thomas Allman brought to the business over seven decades ago. Every cut of meat is carefully selected and prepared with expertise, ensuring our customers receive only the very best.

Our Sourcing Philosophy

Quality starts at the source. We work exclusively with trusted local farms and our own Four Elms abattoir to ensure the highest standards.

Local & Traceable

All our meat is sourced from farms within Kent and the surrounding counties. We know exactly where every cut comes from.

Ethically Raised

We partner only with farms that prioritize animal welfare, providing free-range and grass-fed options.

Traditional Methods

Our Four Elms abattoir uses traditional, humane methods, ensuring the best quality and respect for the animals.

Four Elms Abattoir

Located in the heart of the Kent countryside, our Four Elms abattoir has been operational since the 1960s. This facility allows us complete control over the entire process, from farm to shop.

By operating our own abattoir, we ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and meat quality. The traditional methods we employ result in properly aged, tender meat with exceptional flavor.

Our skilled team of butchers has decades of combined experience, and every animal is treated with respect and care. This commitment to quality and ethics is at the heart of everything we do.

Did you know? Proper aging and traditional butchery methods can improve meat tenderness by up to 40% and significantly enhance flavor development.

Farms We Work With

We work with a select group of family-run farms across Kent and the South East, each sharing our commitment to quality and animal welfare.

Coming soon... We want to be transparent with where we source our meat and help promote the local suppliers involved.

Traditional Butchery Craftsmanship

Our butchers are true craftsmen, with skills honed over decades. Every cut is made with precision and care, ensuring minimal waste and maximum quality.

We still practice the traditional art of whole carcass butchery, breaking down entire animals on-site. This allows us to offer a complete range of cuts, from premium steaks to economical joints, and make our famous sausages from quality trim.

Our home-made sausages are legendary in the area – we produce over 200 pounds every week using traditional recipes and natural casings. Each variety is carefully seasoned and hand-linked by our experienced team.
